Quick start
- Open the Shopify store you want to export, in a normal tab.
- Click the StoreSpy icon. It checks that tab and confirms the store publishes a public catalog.
- Sign in with Google. This is required for the free tier too — your plan lives on your account.
- Choose products, collections, best-sellers or search, then press Start.
- Filter and select the rows you want, then export to CSV, Excel or JSON.
“This store cannot be read”
- Confirm it is a Shopify store. StoreSpy reads Shopify’s public storefront endpoints. A store on another platform has nothing for it to read.
- Some stores do not publish a public catalog at all. A merchant can turn that off. When it is off, no tool that reads the public catalog can export that store — StoreSpy included.
- Hostname differences are handled for you. Some stores serve the catalog on the apex domain and
refuse
www., or the other way round. StoreSpy retries the other hostname automatically, so this is usually not the cause. - Password-protected or pre-launch stores are not readable until the merchant opens them.
The export stopped at 100 products
That is the free tier working as intended: every run returns up to 100 products, and you can run it as many times as you like. Nothing is deducted per run and there is no credit balance to run out of. Pro removes the per-run limit.
The export stopped at 25,000 products
That is a Shopify platform ceiling, not a StoreSpy setting. The public catalog stops serving results past 25,000 products, so on a larger store you get the first 25,000. Changing the page size does not move it, and no tool reading the public catalog gets past it.
Columns that look wrong
Inventory is blank. Storefronts do not expose inventory counts. There is nothing to read.
Prices look 100× too large. Some stores report prices in cents. Turn on the cents toggle in the run configuration and re-run.
Product Category is blank. That is deliberate. Shopify validates that column against its own taxonomy when you import, and a storefront’s product type is rarely a valid taxonomy value — filling it in makes the import fail. The Type column carries the store’s product type unchanged.
SEO title and description are blank. Those live in admin fields that are not public. There is an optional fallback that fills them from the product title and body.
The CSV opens as mojibake in Excel
It should not — our CSV carries a UTF-8 byte-order mark for exactly this reason. If you still see garbled characters, tell us which spreadsheet application and version you used, and send a few of the affected product titles. The XLSX export is a good workaround in the meantime: it writes true numbers and true dates, not text.
Shopify refuses to import the file
Send us the error message Shopify showed and the column it named. The CSV is written in Shopify’s own admin-export row format, and we verify it by importing a real export into a Shopify development store — so a rejection is something we want to see.
Plan and billing
Signing in is required, including on the free tier. Your plan is attached to your account rather than to one browser, so it follows you to a new computer.
Pro is $9.99 per month or $49.99 per year. It is a subscription, not a one-time purchase.
Cancelling. Cancel from inside the extension at any time. Pro stays active until the end of the period you already paid for; you are not charged again after that.
Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription. Removing the extension from Chrome stops the software but does not end billing — cancel first, or from your account page afterwards.
